I have so much to be thankful for. Just waking up in the morning is a miracle, because I know it was God Who allowed it. How can I refrain from praising the Lord, when He dwells in our praises?
There are so many reasons to praise His Name, some of which are physical needs that are met, but also there are spiritual reasons, like I’m saved and going to Heaven when I die. Sure, anybody can praise God and be joyful over being financially secure, for example, but how many are able to praise the Lord for being poor and having next to nothing? That takes a certain mindset, one that is not affected by the pleasures of life.
One needs to remember that it is not by the power of our hand that we are blessed by material things, it is in fact God Almighty Who permits us to attain these blessings. He is the One from Whom all good things come, but He also allows the Devil to chasten us if we stray from His will. I’m speaking from a Christian standpoint; if you are not born again then you need to know how to be saved in order for you to become His child, so you may understand.
I am also thankful that the Lord allowed me to come back to writing here, because it is good for me to show forth his praises in writing. I know He is pleased when I, with His help, shake the cobwebs out of my brain and really desire to please Him. Sometimes it takes work, because in my flesh there dwelleth no good thing, but since I’m saved, I no longer have to serve sin. I’d rather serve God Almighty and give the Devil a good reason to flee than to mope about how inferior I am without the Lord.
So these are just a few reminders, basically, to think on things above. If you’re not saved, you need to get that right with Jesus. He did everything for you, and then some. Go to Him and ask Him to forgive you, and believe on His finished work at Calvary. You won’t regret it.
And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD. Psalm 27:6
